INFLUENZA A (H1N1) Swine Flu

June 22nd 2009

Update

As you will be aware via the media and a press release from the Ministry of Health, (19/6/09) Influenza A has gone into a new phase called “manage it”.
The “containment phase” which has been undertaken over the last month has helped restrict the number of cases and slowed the spread of the virus.

Too minimize the impact it may have on our school community we have been highlighting the importance of “good hygiene” around washing hands and covering the mouth when coughing.

We have also encouraged all students who have been feeling unwell to stay at home. Please remember to contact Joy (Attendance Officer) of any absence in the normal way – Phone 5784029 Ext 820

Returning or going overseas
The Ministry of Health has now advised us that any students who are returning from overseas, stay at home ONLY IF THEY ARE FEELING UNWELL, thus reduce the risk of transferring it to other students.

Updating your contact details
During recent Form times we have been checking with the students that we have your correct email address and telephone numbers, as this will be one of the main sources of communication between the school and parents if the situation arose where the Ministry of Health closed the school down to minimize the spread of the Influenza virus. If you have recently changed your contact details please make contact with the Student Office at school to update our records.

Students who are at home sick for whatever reason should access the Colleges online learning programme called MOODLE. This can be accessed via the Colleges web site
